Andrew and Justin Hast host a night with the new blue dial IWC Ingenieur
Russell SheldrakeThis Wednesday evening, our very own Andrew McUtchen was joined by the watch world’s happiest man Justin Hast for a night dedicated to the new blue dial Ingenieur Automatic 40 at IWC’s Battersea Power Station boutique in London. The evening kicked off with the two of them entering into a back-and-forth about the model, its storied history and what this new iteration means for the family of sports watches today as we look to the end of the year and what might be coming for the brand in 2025.
As we’ve seen in the past, it’s always fun when these two get together, and having the opportunity to talk about a watch and brand they are both passionate about only added fuel to that fire. Both Andrew and Justin have long histories with IWC, and having them share anecdotes and personal insights on this kind of release is always a treat.
As with all watch events, the place was filled with those passionate about the brand, and so when it was turned over to a Q&A there were plenty of insightful and interesting questions for our two hosts to tackle, and it was clear that this new release has sparked interest among the brand’s collector core. After all the talking was done, it was time to get hands-on with this new dial colour, along with a wide variety of IWC novelties. While the brand’s stores always offer the ability to walk in and try these watches on, doing so with so many other collectors and enthusiasts around gives you another perspective on these watches entirely.
It was a great night filled with lively chat, good vibes, and a lot of watches. Now let’s see what IWC has in store for us next year… Hope you have a great weekend!

Watch meme of the week: the heyday
View this post on Instagram
We’ve all met them. The guy who can’t stop talking about the market highs of the pandemic, still clinging on in desperate hope that the crazy prices we saw will return, and with it, some semblance of his net worth. I think we can all also relate to having very little sympathy for them now as we have seen the correction happen and stabilisation in the market take place. Now we seem to be back to normality, with prices holding steady, with no crazy, unexplained inflation. Long may it last.
Wrist shot of the week: perfectly lit titanium
We couldn’t not include this perfectly lit wrist shot from our IWC event. Often at these sorts of events, the venue’s lighting will be so bad, it makes taking a good wrist shot nearly impossible – but here the photographer seems to have captured the perfect angle for this titanium stunner on the wrist.
Time+Tide Shop pick of the week: Hamilton American Classic Ardmore Small Quartz
An Art Deco classic reimagined for modern times, this Hamilton Ardmore is a sophisticated choice. Taking inspiration from the 1935 model, the case is curved to fit the wrist seamlessly, maintaining its versatile appeal, with a running seconds subdial, Roman numerals, delicate proportions and a reliable quartz movement. This is a great option for someone looking for a Swiss-made dress watch that won’t break the bank.
Discover the Hamilton American Classic Ardmore Small Quartz in the Time+Tide Shop, either online or in-store at our Melbourne Discovery Studio. Price: A$775

Omega debuts a new green Seamaster Diver 300M with a titanium and bronze gold case
Time to green? The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M No Time to Die 007 Edition was an instant classic on its release alongside Daniel Craig’s last outing as James Bond. Since then, Omega has debuted multiple variants that de-modernise and look back to the ’90s in the same manner: non-fitted mesh bracelets, aluminium in place of ceramic, and in some instances, creamy lume. In the wake of two recent models, Omega expands this Seamaster segment yet again with a new green-dialled take that introduces bronze gold accents paired with grade 2 titanium. Andrew shares his in-hand first impressions in the video above, and you can read Zach’s thoughts here.
